When you have one of those vacations that is just so incredible that words just can’t describe it, well this is one. Venice Italy is as amazing as you have heard, or thought about, or wanted to think about. So here goes. When you land in Venice you have several options of how to get to your hotel. Taxi is one, private water taxi is another, or public water taxi which is much cheaper. I chose the public water taxi. That meant walking about 10 minutes following the signs down to the water shuttle area and waiting 30 minutes for the water taxi for the area of Venice my hotel was located. Once finally in the boat, it seemed to constantly get passed by all the personal water taxis. So if you are in a hurry and have plenty of money then take the personal; otherwise, enjoy the slower taxi. It does make many stops but it gets there. Once you get to the stop you can wander around the tiny streets or just use your Google maps (highly recommended for doing anything in Venice for the first time). There are way too many hotels to recommend and I recommend pick any that your budget can afford. As for food, it is the same. I can’t think of a single place I ate at that I didn’t enjoy. Just incredible and the wine is so reasonably priced, make sure you indulge. The museums are great, Doge’s Palace is worth the tour, and yes do the gondala so you can say you did it. I was a little disappointed the guy didn’t sing so ask around if you want a singing captain. For a real treat go to St Mark’s square at night when they have the music switching between all the different restaurants. Basically, get some drinks, food, and just enjoy!
