Granbury Texas is located about 45 miles southwest of Fort Worth. It is the county seat of Hood county and has an adorable town square. Today just happen to have an antique car show going on around the court house. Granbury also has a lake running thru the middle of the town although there are few restaurants and no shops on it. The best restaurant on the lake is Stumpy’s. They have some of the best fish tacos I’ve ever eaten and if you have a boat, nothing better than to ride up, eat, and get back on the water.
As for the downtown area, there are several attractions along with lots of shopping and some good restaurants. Today I had lunch at The Bake Shop. It hasn’t been around very long and is in a tough location just off the square but the food is good, the wine is good, and the desserts are amazing. Big plans coming to this place when they finish out the back patio area and I can’t wait. (Update April 2017 – Bake Shop closed which is disappointing because the food was very good but service and location was what got it I think)
Best places to eat on the square that I recommend are as follows:
- Farina’s is good Italian, great salads, and good selection of wines.
- Babes and their chicken is legendary in the metroplex.
- Ketzler’s german food is top notch. The beer garden in the back is fun and the drinks are very good. Nothing like a good, dark, German beer with sausages and kraut!
- Christina’s used to be 90% merchandise and 10% food. Now it’s 90% food and 10% merchandise because the food is great!
- Eighteen Ninety is very good also and I recommend getting reservations. Nice bar and sitting area (if you can find a seat). The later you get there the easier it is to just walk in.
